Book Review: King of Pride by Ana Huang

Rating: ★★★★★

Wow! After reading the last book from Huang's Kings of Sin series, I wasn't sure how I would feel about the following novels, as King of Wrath didn't quite do it for me. But I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved King of Pride!

Kai Young must win the vote for the CEO position at his family's media company. That should be his main focus. However, a purple-haired bartender, Isabella Valencia, is all he can think about lately. The pair know being together could cost them everything. But what happens when they give into their desires and find that they could be better together than they previously thought?

I loved this book! After reading both the Twisted series and the first in the Kings of Sin series, King of Pride is up there with my personal favorites (Twisted Games and Twisted Love).

My favorite part about this book was the sheer amount of swoon-worthy quotes included and how amazing the male MC was. At every turn, Kai was putting her over his career, the media, and others' perceptions of him and who he should be with, which I loved to see.

I did find Isabella's internal conflict a bit annoying at times, seeing as she had a "martyr" personality. I don't really love this trope in novels, but for what it was, I didn't mind it much here. The romance between Kai and Isabella was so heartwarming and fun that I was able to overlook this pretty easily.

I recommend this book to anyone who liked Ana Huang's other novels. The only thing I found missing was more of the "found family" intense friendship that was prominent in the Twisted series. But aside from this, I thought this novel lived up to her earlier novels' hype.

Overall, King of Pride was a fun and light read that I would suggest everyone try!
